This tour will take you around Scotland for 10 days. I’ve personally chosen 11 of the most famous and interesting Scotch whisky distilleries as well as some of the best whisky shops, making sure there’s something special for everyone. In addition, you will travel throughout Scotland and be able to enjoy the incredible beauty of this amazing country.
The cost of the trip for two people including accommodation, petrol, food and admission to tastings tours and attractions is estimated for £190 per day - but of course if you are using your own motorhome or caravan it will be considerably less than this. Then again, if you buy half a dozen bottles at every distillery…
Your adventure spans approximately 1260 km by car, starting in Edinburgh and taking you to all the five whisky regions: Speyside, Highlands, Islands, Islay and Lowlands. Scottish whisky is similar to wine in that the area where it is produced makes a big difference to the taste, look and smell, even if it is produced in the same country.
Scotland is not the largest country, but the differences in location and taste of whisky are phenomenal. You will taste different types of whisky in distilleries such as The Glenlivet distillery, The Glenfiddich distillery, The Talisker distillery, The Laphroaig distillery, The Ardbeg distillery, The Lagavulin distillery, The Auchentoshan distillery and others.
Throughout your journey, you'll see some of Scotland's most beautiful places, including Ballindalloch Castle, Eilean Donan Castle, the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, Ben Nevis and the Glen Shiel Valley, Dunyvaig Castle on the Isle of Islay, Loch Lomond and Glasgow Cathedral as well as sampling local cuisine in wonderful restaurants and pubs that I've carefully selected for you.
